As the seasons change, so do the needs of your leather bags. Whether it's the scorching heat of summer, the icy chill of winter, or the unpredictable downpours of spring, proper care is necessary to ensure your leather articles stay in great condition.

  • Seasonal impact: As temperatures fluctuate, leather can expand and contract, making it susceptible to damage. In hot and dry conditions, leather may lose moisture and become brittle, while in cold and wet conditions, it can absorb excess moisture, leading to mold or mildew growth. So, make sure you get ahead of that for effective seasonal care.
  • Hot summers: During the summer, shield your leather bags from direct sunlight to prevent fading and discolouration. When storing, place your leather bags in a cool, dry place to avoid heat damage, and consider using breathable bags to protect against dust and debris. Do not forget that regularly moisturising your leather with leather conditioning solution such as the Apple Leather Care conditioner to combat dryness caused by prolonged sun exposure.
  • Rainy and chilly seasons: Prioritise water-resistant leather or treat your bags with a water repellent spray  or cream such as the Chamberlain's Leather Milk No. 3 Protectant to guard against rain (and snow if you are in the snowy mountain). Remember to always determine if your leather type is suitable for having a protectant layer. If your leather bag does get wet, gently blot it with a clean immediately, dry cloth and allow it to air-dry naturally. Do not use heat sources, as they can damage the leather.
  • Proper storage: Go for breathable storage options, such as cotton or canvas dust bags, to allow air circulation. If you're concern with the bags getting out of shape, stuff your bags with bubble wrap or tissue paper to help maintain their shape during storage. Remember to store your leather bags in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Using these seasonal care practices, you'll not only extend the life of your leather bags but also ensure they remain stylish and functional throughout the year. Remember, a little proactive care goes a long way in preserving the beauty and longevity of your favorite accessories.
